On 22 May 2017, my life changed forever. I was the closest survivor of the Manchester Arena bombing which tragically took the lives of 22 people. A bolt went straight through me, severed my spinal cord and left me paralysed below the waist.
The NHS saved my life, but it was an amazing charity, the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) who gave me the hope, confidence and practical skills to start again.
On 9 June 2022 I reached the summit of Kilimanjaro using a specially adapted wheelchair with the team who helped save my life, to raise £1million for SIA.
You can also donate via the SIA website, over the phone (call 01908 604 191) or via text.
Text SIA followed by your donation amount to 70085 to give that amount. Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message, and you’ll be opting into hearing more from us. If you would like to donate but don't wish to hear more from us, please text SIANOINFO instead.
We are happy to be sponsoring Martins Mountain to support his challenge to raise £1million for SIA, Martin’s mission of turning something awful into a force for good is something we wanted to be a part of. It’s time to raise awareness of how SIA and Coloplast can make life easier for people living with Spinal Cord Injuries – a mission we are all contributing to, every single day.
